It's been a while since I have posted.
My last post was on pausing our Shopify store. Since then we have closed our t-shirt business. The small margins, errors by suppliers and dwindling sales caused us to close down the store. It was unfortunate. There went just over a year of working on the store and now don't have much to show for it except the experience and skills we have developed.
Good news is I will keep going on. In the mean time I have been learning new skills in the area of web development.
Learning Ruby on Rails 5 and web development thru Udemy. If you don't already know Udemy is a online platform where you can learn new skills through courses. The courses are generally inexpensive and the content is high quality.
The course is called Professional Ruby on Rails Developer with Rails 5.
It has taken just over a month to do the course. Aprox. 40 hours of work. Now I have the confidence to start more projects and learn more.
In the past I have made many websites based on Wordpress and got really good at making them. Really easy stuff. The new websites have a lot more functionality than what I was used to and I wanted to learn how to make them. This led me to look at Ruby on Rails as the quickest way to develop web apps.
Finally today I finished my course and complete my app. If you want to check it out you can find it here
Please feel free to signup and give it a spin.
So why am I telling you all this? Simple, I want you to know that no matter how shit your circumstances are you can always improve your skills. Having skills pay. Whether you get a job or freelance or start a business, you need skills. They may be technical skills or maybe sales skills. Skills pay the bills. If you have no skills your choices in life are limited.
So you may be wondering what I will be doing next. Will I still talk about Shopify, Clickfunnels, Facebook Advertising? In the short term I will be focusing on developing a new web app for Crytocurrency trading. You can still ask me any questions and I will be more than happy to help.
