How To Find Awesome Free Stock Photos For Your Blog Posts

Garth Scaysbrook Other app, blogging, creative commons, royalty free images, stock photos, zoommy

Here is the problem… You blog posts look boring. You decide to add a photo that you found on Google Images. But just made a fatal mistake. Using copyright images and Google will penalise you without you even knowing. What the hell just happened! All I need is an image to make my blog post look a little more appealing.

Well, you could purchase Royalty Free Images but they cost money and you are not into spending your money just yet. So what do you do?

Here’s a thought, search for images that are are legally allowed to use. If you go to Google Images and search for an image. Then click Search Tools and Usage Rights and choose “Labeled for use with Modification”. Find and image that you want and click the image and click visit page. Check the license of the image and see if it is Creative Commons Zero.

Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means the images are completely free to be used for any legal purpose.

  • The pictures are free for personal and even for commercial use.
  • You can modify, copy and distribute the photos.
  • No asking for permission or setting a link to the source. Attribution is not required.

Awesome. But what if I told you there is a better way 🙂

Check out this little App called Zoommy. That’s right 2 o’s and 2 m’s. Zooooooooooooommmmmmmmmyyyyy.

Sound Cool. But does it actually work? Any how many thousands of dollars is it?

Yes it does work and it costs $4. Sorry, did I say $4 WTF! yes it is $4.

Zoommy makes it easy to find over 20,000 Creative Common Zero images. Search for them using keyword or view them by collection. You can favourite images and go back to your favourites at any time. Click the image for a bigger view. Click Download and the image will be downloaded directly to your computer.

As new images become available they appear in the app magically. You can create your own collections of images. filter by colours and change the layout of the grid.

So what do you need to run this app?

My First Drone Flight and Yes it Was Awesome

Went Drone flying with family today. I was so excited to say the least. The sky was clear and the weather was good. I’ve know about drone for years but never had the opportunity to get up close and personal with one until now.

From the moment I was handed the controller I felt excitement and a little nervous. Began with basic movements of forward and back. Then learned how to turn left and right while moving forward doing wide oval shaped loops in the sky.

The Phantom 4 Pro was so stable. As soon as you let go of the controls is stops in mid air. Just waiting for you. I took it pretty easy, going slow. Didn’t want to crash it my first time. LOL.

We went as high as 100 meters in the air, it was difficult to see at that height. The view from the 4K onboard camera was amazing as we did a 360 rotation. The furtherest it was away was about 250 m. It was like a little spec at that distance. The live video feed from the 4K camera made you feel comfortable even though it was a long way away.

Each battery lasted about 30 minutes. We had 2 batteries, so that was an hour of flying time.

Really enjoyed my first Drone flight. Hope I get to get to do it again sometime.
